- Averaging: GPS signals fluctuate due to atmospheric interference. By recording a point over a 10 to 30-second interval and calculating the mathematical average of the coordinates, users can significantly reduce the margin of error.
- Geoid Application: As discussed in previous articles, raw GPS altitude is unreliable. Using software that applies EGM2008 or EGM96 geoid models on the fly ensures the elevation data is tied to Mean Sea Level.
